Summary The position is located in with the United States Department of Agriculture, Economic Research Service, Resource and Rural Economics Division (RRED) located in Kansas City, MO. In this position you will serve as the Deputy Director for Data Management and Staff Analysis with responsibility for the coordination of the planning, organization, and implementation of programs to develop analytic and information systems needed to efficiently manage and achieve the mission. Responsibilities Ensure that outputs are timely, relevant, accessible and well targeted to their primary customers and based on sound economic principles and analysis. Plan, coordinate, manage and review day to-day staff analyses and coordinate divisional policy studies and ensure workflow is appropriate to the audience. Review, evaluate, and implement the Division's data development policies, procedures, and programs and for recommending ways to improve them. Ensure work on database development is properly integrated with overall management plans and meets data quality standards. Basic Requirements: Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus. OR Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. AND In addition to the basic requirement above, all applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications: At the GS-14: Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-14 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-13 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is managing research and economic data systems; gathering economic research data from internal and external stakeholders; using advanced microeconomic and quantitative analysis tools to analyze economic data; and disseminating research results to a variety of audiences. Must demonstrate evidence of research project leadership and publications by peer-reviewed journals, federal statistical agencies, or nationally recognized independent research organizations. At the GS-15: Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised.
