HNTB Landscape Architect III in Kansas City, Missouri

What We're Looking For

The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB is currently seeking an Landscape Architect III (UDLA III) for our Transit + Mobility practice. This position will be located in our Kansas City, MO, office. The Landscape Architect will be responsible for a variety of urban planning and landscape architectural tasks including site design, bicycle and pedestrian improvements, transit station design, site planning, and landscape design related to the profitable delivery of our transit and multi-modal projects. This professional will be primarily responsible for technical execution of projects in alignment with HNTB’s 4 for 4 performance (delivery of quality work, on time, on budget and to the client’s satisfaction) on every project.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Working collaboratively in a team environment to deliver client-focused urban design solutions for transit, streetscape and green infrastructure problems.

  • Final production of design drawings, construction documents and other drawing documents associated with presentation drawings, reports, plans, etc.

  • Production of high-quality hand and computer-generated graphics to support the transit and urban planning practices.

  • Engaging with internal and external organizations to grow HNTB’s brand and opportunities for civic interactions.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong design skills and attention to detail with a high level of construction/technical competency

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and with clients and consultants.

  • Comfortable presenting projects to clients and in public settings.

  • Ability to adjust to dynamic project priorities

  • Coordinates with clients, sub-consultants and in-house personnel on a regular basis to complete assigned tasks.

  • Desire to grow personally and professionally, including obtaining LA Professional Registration.

  • Quantity estimates.

  • Check calculations and drawings.

  • Perform specific short term design applications.

  • Organize scheduling of specific tasks and assignments.

  • May oversee the work of less experienced staff.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or related field

  • 4 years related experience

  • 2 years related experience (with Master's degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or related field)

  • AutoCAD software experience

  • Sketch-up, V-Ray/Lumion, Adobe Creative Suite software experience

What You'll Need

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the direction of small-scale landscape architectural, land planning, transportation, and urban design projects and portions of larger scale projects from concept development through working or submission drawings, and final urban design plans.

  • Writes specific segments of reports.

  • Coordinates with clients, sub-consultants and in-house personnel on a regular basis to complete assigned tasks.

  • Final production of graphics, design drawings, construction documents and other drawing documents associated with presentation drawings, reports, plans, etc.

  • Determination/coordination of technical solutions for specific aspects of project.

  • Assists in the preparation of scopes of work, fee proposals and responses to RFP’s.

  • May oversee the work of less experienced staff.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or related field

  • 4 years related experience

  • 2 years related experience (with Master's degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or related field)
