The Training Specialist/PCA (Patient Care Assistant) Academy Instructor assesses, develops, coordinates and implements education for the healthcare team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develops, instructs and facilitates the PCA Academy.
Responsible for system-wide planning and implementation of continuing education.
Promotes excellence in evidenced-based practice and quality performance by following program standards.
Responsible for hands-on training, assessment of learner skills.
Orientates and trains new members of the healthcare team.
Supervises and mentors the development of bedside care and fosters empowerment through the delivery of evidence-based practice.
Fosters a climate that enhances professional growth of all staff and acts as a general resource for clinical personnel.
Associates of Nursing required. Bachelors of Nursing preferred.
Minimum Work Experience
Five years of clinical nursing experience in a healthcare environment required. One year of supervisory experience in a clinical setting preferred.
Valid RN license in Missouri or Compact state required. Advanced life support training in specific area of responsibility such as: ACLS (Advanced Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), NRP (Neo-Natal Resuscitation Program), STABLE (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood pressure, Lab work, and Emotional support), TNCC (Trauma Nurse Care Course)/ ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course), etc...
Considerable mental concentration required to complete largely variable duties. Must be able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with frequent interruptions. Standing, sitting and walking required. Light lifting (25 lbs/12 kg) required.
Standard office conditions. Minimal travel.
