General Function
The Instructor NT is a non-tenure track position with responsibilities to teach full-time and to provide appropriate service. The Instructor NT may participate in research or creative activities.
Description of Primary Duties
We seek a candidate with a commitment to inclusive teaching practices and expertise in Health and Physical Education. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about the use of student focused pedagogy in the classroom in order to engage students in the learning process and will join a unit that is dedicated to providing students with access to high impact practices aimed at increasing student retention, persistence, and success. Responsibilities include teaching in the areas of healthy lifestyles; personal/community health; first aid; health and promotion; activity courses related to fitness; and supervision of internships. Additional responsibilities include advising undergraduate students and service to the school, college, university, and community.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
An earned terminal degree or the degree required for teaching in certain disciplines is required. Potential or demonstrated teaching ability is required. A willingness to serve the academic unit, college, and the University is required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
Additional Qualifications
Applicant should possess: Masters in Kinesiology or closely related field; potential for or evidence of innovative, learner-centered pedagogy; ability to teach courses in Physical Education and Health Studies; the ability or potential to mentor and support our diverse student population; and possess excellent oral and written communication skills
