This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Rotational work on weekends and holidays may be required.

Essential Functions

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will work with a team to use mobile scanning devices to collect data from animal facilities; retrieve and enter transactional data into the University’s Lab Animal Management System; track movement of research animals; and perform independent review and reconciliation of animal census. Maintains a high level of service and commitment to the research mission of the University: the core duties of this position directly impact the accuracy of billing and the availability of an accurate animal inventory for researchers. A high degree of professionalism and accuracy is expected at all times.

While this position does not directly care for or interact with live animals, entering housing rooms on a daily basis will be required (including specialty rooms such as biohazard, quarantine, etc.).

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Scan for electronic census and retrieve transactional data (e.g. log sheets, transfer forms, etc.) from lab animal facilities campus-wide.
  2. Accurately enter and conduct timely review of pertinent information in the electronic data management system(s).
  3. Track and anticipate supply needs for multiple locations to ensure all supplies are ordered and available, as needed.
  4. Identify and remediate logistical issues (e.g. missing cards, corrupted barcodes, etc.). Respond to researcher requests to create new electronic census tags.
  5. Interact daily with various stakeholders, including faculty and their lab staff, husbandry personnel, and business office staff.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school diploma.
  • Training in data analysis.
  • Knowledge of computerized systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using inventory tracking or animal management software.
  • Experience working in a medical university setting.
  • Working knowledge of research data management with effective organizational skills, computer familiarity, and ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.

Salary Range

The hiring range for this position is $14.31 - $17.88 per hour.
