St. Louis Community College Director, Curriculum and Assessment in St. Louis, Missouri

Duties/Job Description:


Under the direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Institutional Research and Academic Process, this position oversees and provides leadership for the college’s curriculum development and assessment processes; maintains the college’s curriculum systems; oversees and provides leadership for the college’s assessment efforts in accordance with requirements of the Higher Learning Commission; administers the College’s electronic systems that maintain all official curriculum and assessment documentation; and coordinates the preparation of all curriculum documents for submission to the Board of Trustees, Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development, the Coordinating Board for Higher Education, and the Higher Learning Commission.


• Collaborates with academic leadership and manages the processes to support new program development and revision of existing programs, including the program review process and stakeholder engagements for program viability and curriculum development. • Prepares the submission of all curriculum changes, including courses and programs, for approval by the District Curriculum Committee, the Board of Trustees, and the State Coordinating Board of Higher Education; ensures implementation of all changes occur in the College’s enterprise resource planning software and other college data systems. • Produces the College catalog according to established annual schedules. • Ensures accuracy of all curriculum information for the College and ensures the integrity of information and systems that support course and program management. • Maintains all course and program information in the College’s enterprise resource planning software and oversees the recording and publication of accurate course and program information in College systems and all College publications, including web-based. • Manages professional staff and processes for administering the College’s electronic records system for curriculum development and approval; oversees the course profile revision process. • Manages professional staff and processes for administration of the College’s degree audit system and ensures alignment of the degree audit systems and process with the College’s enterprise resource management system. • Supports the College’s District Curriculum Committee with management and documentation of processes and decisions and ensures information is integrated into appropriate College systems. • Serves as an ex-officio member of the District Curriculum Committee, providing resources and ensuring compliance with College, accreditation, state, and other requirements. • Supports the College in pursuits for the alignment of credit and non-credit program planning and program development. • Provides leadership and supports College efforts in meeting all accreditation requirements and development and implementation work related to student learning outcomes and assessment. • Oversees the College’s assessment processes and collaborates with College leadership to manage the College’s assessment efforts. • Aligns the College’s assessment processes with curriculum and program development. • Oversees the College’s process for identifying and assessing student learning outcomes. • Prepares the College’s assessment reports including those required for accreditation. • Prepares communication of the College’s assessment projects and results. • Provides leadership and support for continuous quality improvement efforts related to assessment results. • Manages quality assurance processes related to curriculum development and assessment of student learning, including activities such as the development of training programs, tutorials, or printed materials. • Responsible for timely and appropriate communications to stakeholders with regard to program and curriculum updates, student learning outcomes assessment, and processes in the department. • Performs normal supervisory functions: trains; instructs; assigns work to personnel; manages and makes recommendations regarding the budget and all associated budgets; recommends transfers, promotions, wage increases, terminations; arranges for additional work or need for overtime; explains and enforces College policies, safety rules, and regulations; evaluates performance. • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


• Proficiency with electronic curriculum management systems • Proficiency with degree audit systems • Knowledge of accreditation requirements relevant to the development and assessment of curriculum • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills • Excellent customer service skill and ability to maintain productive customer relationships • Strong leadership skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, faculty, and staff in addressing demands of the college regarding curriculum and assessment • Attention to detail and accuracy • Ability to identify and work with key stakeholders across the organization and to provide support to ensure accuracy in the college’s curriculum and assessment systems • Knowledge and skill in developing and evaluating curriculum, program review, and program viability processes. • Ability to coordinate the work of staff, work in a team environment, and perform effectively both independently and as a collaborator with diverse campus faculty and staff. • Ability to manage multiple projects with short deadlines. • Ability to solve problems quickly and collaboratively.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s Degree or equivalent

At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, including supervision of professional staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a multi-campus community college setting.
