This position is full-time and works approximately 37.5 hours per week.

This position is in the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures. This position is for the Danforth Campus in the School of Arts & Sciences.

Essential Functions

The Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures at Washington University invites applications for a full-time lecturer in German. The appointment will begin in the spring semester of 2021 and continue through the end of the fall semester of 2021 (with the possibility of renewal, pending successful review and budgetary factors). The successful candidate for this appointment will teach three courses per semester in our core language program and supervise graduate student instructors in these courses. Additionally, the appointee will assume a variety of administrative responsibilities related to the undergraduate program, such as advising of majors and minors, assisting with annual departmental assessment, and coordinating departmental activities and events.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree in German in hand at start of appointment.
  • Proven records of excellence in undergraduate teaching, particularly in beginning and intermediate German language courses.

Salary Range

Base pay commensurate with experience.
