The Salvation Army - Metro Division Residential Assessment Specialist in St. Louis, Missouri

Overview

The Salvation Army Family Haven is looking for someone who is outgoing and has great communications skills to join their team as the newest Residential Assessment Specialist. This is a salaried position that comes with a great benefits package which includes medical, dental, and life insurance, 11 paid holidays a year, vacation time, sick time, personal time, and is eligible for participation in the company funded pension plan after one year of service. Starting pay for this position is $35,568.

Responsibilities

  1. Administers approved instruments and reviews all screening and testing results with parents. Documents results and makes recommendations/referrals for any additional screening or special services deemed appropriate.

  2. Assists in the design and review of Individual Learning Plans (ILP). Supervises maintenance and distribution of ILP’s.

  3. Maintains and document regular communication with appropriate school personnel. Serves as parent/child advocate at approved conferences. Assists in the design of, and follows up on special services referrals. .

  4. Maintains timely, accurate documentation as required by contract and /or policy of The Salvation Army.

  5. Attends and participates in staffing/meetings as directed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field with approved course work in testing/measurement and three years work experience in education or social service. Combination of education and experience will be considered. Experience with low-income and/or homeless children is a plus. Must have an outgoing personality with good communication skills and an ability to work with diverse cultures. Strong leadership style and good organizational skills required. Commitment to carry out The Salvation Army’s mission is essential. Knowledge of The Salvation Army and government, state and community resources is helpful. Must have working knowledge of computers. Must have reliable transportation, a valid drivers’ license and pass TSA MVR check.

The Salvation Army Central Territory does not participate in unemployment compensation programs. The Salvation Army, as a church, is exempt from participation in federal and state unemployment insurance programs.
